Wittlich & Middle Moselle

Digital agency for Wittlich: web design, SEO & Google Ads

About 30 minutes via the A1. In Wittlich an industrial estate meets a wine region – two audiences that need very different things online. I build for both.

smugo is the digital agency from Trier for Wittlich and the Middle Moselle: web design, SEO, Google Ads and data analytics. The district town lives off two worlds – industry and commerce along the motorways, plus wine, hospitality and tourism on the river. Both need a website, just not the same one.

Two audiences, two logics

A supplier on the Wittlich industrial estate sells to buyers who compare, read data sheets and want to see references. A wine estate towards Bernkastel sells to people planning a weekend who are won over by pictures. One site builds trust through facts, the other through atmosphere.

When I build for Wittlich, that is the first thing we settle. A B2B site gets a clear service structure, named contacts with faces and a short path to a quote request. A hospitality or tourism site gets good photos, opening hours that are correct and a booking flow that works on a phone. There is more on that under web design.

SEO Wittlich: plan around the season

Search demand on the Moselle swings considerably across the year. Start in May to become visible for the summer and you are too late, because rankings need lead time. For Wittlich I therefore plan visibility backwards: which content has to be in place over winter so that it carries through the season?

Then there is the surrounding area. Wittlich is the district town of Bernkastel-Wittlich, but many businesses are searched for via places like Salmtal, Manderscheid or Traben-Trarbach rather than the town itself. Those terms belong on the site without it turning into a list. How I solve that, I describe under SEO.

Industry on the A1: B2B is underrated online

Many industrial and trades businesses around Wittlich live off regular customers and referrals. That carries – until a buyer changes jobs or a client drops out. Then it becomes obvious that the website has not changed in eight years and that nobody online can find out what the business actually does.

A B2B site does not have to be beautiful, it has to be findable and credible: services described individually, capacity and equipment named, certificates visible, contacts reachable. That costs less than most people assume and is often the cheapest sales measure in the building.

The same goes for hiring. The businesses along the A1 compete for the same skilled workers, and applicants look up where they would be starting. A careers page with real photos, concrete information about shifts and hours, and a way to apply without a PDF costs little and stands out in this setting.

Google Ads Wittlich: put the budget where the season is

For Google Ads in Wittlich I usually work with variable budgets rather than a fixed monthly amount. A hotel or a visitor attraction advertises when people are searching; a trades business turns the budget up when the order book has room and off when it does not.

That assumes someone keeps an eye on the campaign. So I discuss budgets on the rhythm of your business rather than the rhythm of the calendar. I describe how a campaign is built under Google Ads.

30 minutes via the A1 – and numbers you can read

Trier to Wittlich is around 40 kilometres on the A1, roughly 30 minutes. Meetings on site are straightforward, even at short notice, and for photos in the workshop or the vineyard they are the better option anyway.

Between meetings, what counts is that you can see what is happening. I set up measurement so that you can tell without prior knowledge which page brings enquiries and which only brings visits – GDPR-compliant and without a graveyard of dashboards. See data analytics.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What businesses from Wittlich ask me most often.

We are an industrial business – is a new website worth it at all?

If buyers look you up before the first conversation, yes. In B2B it is less about design than about being findable and credible: what you can do, who you have worked for, who to talk to. That can usually be caught up with modest effort.

When should we start for the summer season?

In winter. Content needs a few months before Google serves it reliably. Starting in spring usually catches only part of the current season – the full effect arrives the year after.

Can we maintain the site ourselves?

Yes, I build it that way on request. With menus, vintages or opening hours it makes sense that you do not have to wait for me. Anything that rarely changes I am happy to keep handling.

Do you also work for businesses in Bernkastel or Traben-Trarbach?

Yes. The Middle Moselle is one connected catchment area; the drive from Trier differs by ten or fifteen minutes. I then match the location pages and search terms to your actual radius.

Do we need an online shop?

Not always. For many wine estates and direct sellers a clean product page with a simple ordering flow is enough. A full shop pays off once shipping and stock genuinely become part of the business – we look at that honestly beforehand.
